Wolf  Head Sanders: This sanding unit is used for mostly profile sanding. It connects to a motor of preferably 1 hp or larger. Its prescribed rpm rate is 1800. It is used to sand wood of varying depths. The sandpaper is coiled within the head and is hand released as it wears. The heads fit either 16 strips of sandpaper or 32 strips.

Wolf Head Loadings: This sandpaper fits into the wolf head unit. It is slashed every 1/8” or ¼” to allow it to break apart and sand varying depths of substrate to the same finish.

Wolf heads are sanding apparati that are used in several sanding applications but primarily for wood sanding. For metal sanding they are usually just used to apply a desired scratch pattern in already prepared piece. For wood they are primarily used to sand the profile on trim and raised panel cabinet doors. The advantage is that the sandpaper conforms to the profile via the slashes cut at every 1/4″ or every 1/8″. It is a whirling ball of death that spins at a prescribed speed of 1800 rpm. It requires at least a 1 horse motor to power it. It needs a stable mount which allows it to run with a steady centrifical motion that allows the operator to feed the wood thru it at whatever speed they desire. There are two basic models. The 16 brush and 32 brush models. It just means that the head either holds 16 strips of sandpaper or 32. The loadings that fit into them generally come either 1″, 2″ ,4″ or 6″ wide and the standard length is 19 3/8″. 16″ of which would be usable sandpaper. They are slashed at every 1/4″ or 1/8″ depending on how intricate the profile is that your sanding. This machine is for experienced commercial sanders and your satisfaction is – as always – guaranteed.
